Welcome to Treasure Island School. Treasure Island School is in a spacious, calm and positive learning environment. Treasure Island School offers its K-5 students a comprehensive curriculum stressing academic excellence with emphasis on the best teaching and learning practices through the California Early Literacy Learning (CELL) and the Extended California Literacy Learning (ExLL) programs. The school also focuses on improved teaching and learning of math and science through the Urban Systemic Program Grant. An *English Plus Spanish Program and *English Plus Cantonese Program serves our *English Language Learners.
In this enriched setting, a school goal is to instill in our students social and personal responsibility, awareness of the uniqueness of each individual with an emphasis on developing a personal positive self-image, ever-growing confidence in critical thinking and problem solving through conflict management.
In addition to committed parents, who are an integral part of the school and its programs, Treasure Island School attracts volunteers from many arenas. Junior Achievement, Treasure Island Job Corps and members of the San Francisco School Volunteers collaborate to sponsor events and provide tutoring and other support services to Treasure Island families. A structured learning environment fosters academic achievement and creativity for *English language learners. Students from diverse backgrounds share an appreciation and understanding of the many cultures represented in the school. Treasure Island has a strong focus on language arts and math, as well as offering multimedia computer education and outdoor education.
