Celebrating its 86th year, Commodore Sloat School is known as the Rainbow
School because of our culturally diverse student population. Our parent
community is very active, volunteering their time to enrich the academic
environment with programs such as a learning garden,
artist/poet-in-residence, physical education, marine science, after-school
enrichment classes, and much more.
THE LAWRENCE HALL OF SCIENCE BRINGS THEIR MARE PROGRAM TO CSS!
MARE is a dynamic, multicultural science program that will transform the school into a laboratory for the exploration of the ocean. This school-wide interdisciplinary program explores different marine environments around the world from the perspective of the diverse cultures living around them. Ocean Week involves teachers, students, parents and the community in transforming an entire school into a laboratory for ocean exploration. This program is sponsored by the Parents’ Club Organization.
