SF TEAM (Together Education Accomplishes More)

SF TEAM, a K-8 expanded learning initiative, is an initiative of the Department of Children, Youth and Their Families (DCYF) launched in November 2001 in collaboration with the San Francisco Unified School District.

SF TEAM partners schools and communities to improve student learning and to ensure that all youth succeed in obtaining critical literacy skills. This vision originates in the belief that communities can play an integral role in supporting learning and the development of literacy skills. Thus, this initiative links elementary and middle schools with their communities in a collaboration to connect core school activities with expanded learning programs; to provide opportunities that expand youths' learning opportunities and encourage their engagement in learning; and, if possible and needed, to support students to overcome both academic and non-academic barriers to learning.

An SF TEAM grant was provided to a school-community collaborative in each of San Francisco's eleven supervisorial districts:

  • District 1
    Richmond District Neighborhood Center
    Schools: Alamo, Argonne, Cabrillo, George Peabody, Lafayette Elementary Schools

  • District 2
    Community Youth Center
    School: Marina Middle School

  • District 3
    Telegraph Hill Neighborhood Center
    Schools: Garfield, Gordon Lau, Jean Parker, John Yehall Chin, Yick Wo Elementary Schools, Francisco Middle School

  • District 4
    Moss Beach Homes (Sunset Neighborhood Beacon Center)
    School: A.P. Giannini Middle School

  • District 5
    Jones Memorial Foundation, Inc.
    School: Rosa Parks Elementary School

  • District 6
    Women and Children's Center for Development
    School: John Swett Elementary School

  • District 7
    San Francisco Arts Education Project
    School: Glen Park Elementary School

  • District 8
    After School Enrichment Program
