Two San Francisco Schools Receive Distinguished School of the Year Award
Roosevelt Middle School was one of two schools in San Francisco to be selected as a 2009 California Distinguished School.
Roosevelt Middle and Lowell High Schools have been selected as California Distinguished Schools for 2009. They were among 361 schools across the state to receive the honor.
The selected middle and high schools represent about 10.9 percent of California’s nearly 2,400 middle and high schools.
The list of exemplary schools was announced by Jack O'Connell during the first week of April.
"California Distinguished Schools must meet the challenge of providing all their students with a rigorous education and to fully prepare
today's students for success in postsecondary education or the workforce," O'Connell said. "In an increasingly competitive global economy,
