Topic of Interest

Food Services provides breakfast, lunch and snacks to students and district staff.
The Food Service Department, in cooperation with site principals, operates school breakfast and lunch programs throughout the District. Menus are planned under the guidance of the Administrative Dietitian to ensure compliance with regulations established by the State of California and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Feedback from school sites and the Child Nutrition Advisory Committee is taken into consideration when planning menus. The Nutrition center houses the Offices of the Food Services Director, Food Services Purchasing, Cafeteria Accounting, Food Services Equipment Repair, Lunch Application and Income Verification, and the Food Services Warehouse.

January 23, 2009 (San Francisco) - This is a message to inform the SFUSD community that meals served to students do not contain peanut products. Peanuts and peanut products were discontinued at SFUSD several years ago. Additionally, Student Nutrition Services, which provides the meals, requires that the food it purchases is not produced with equipment that might contain peanut residue.
