IconSchool Description

Phillip and Sala Burton Academic High School was established in 1984 as a result of a Consent Decree between the City of San Francisco and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). Although it opened its doors in the Silver Terrace neighborhood, today it is located at 400 Mansell Avenue, in the Southeastern corner of San Francisco. Today its has a multicultural, multi-enthnic and multi-racial student body of approximately 1,600 students and roughly 110 faculty.

Burton Scholars Scored Higher on The Standardized Testing

Spring of 2002 the STAR (Standardized Testing and Reporting) testing results are in. The hard work has paid off -- Burton scholars scored higher this year than last year. They not only scored higher but they also scored above average.

Just because the students scored higher does not mean the teachers will stop teaching and the students will stop learning. It means the teacher will keep teaching, the students will keep learning, and the students will keep scoring higher...more »
