The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) is an organization of teachers and other education stakeholders who are working to strengthen the teaching profession and improve student learning. NBPTS, created in 1987, is a nonpartisan, independent and nonprofit organization.
National Board Certification (NBC) offers a way for teachers to conduct a meaningful assessment of their teaching and advance their professional growth. Teachers pursuing NBC undergo an intensive, rigorous, and rewarding professional development experience in which they spend between one and three years analyzing and reflecting upon their teaching practices.
The San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) recognizes the tremendous impact that National Board Certified Teachers (NBCTs) have on teaching and learning. |
